During the period from January to October this year, the courts throughout the country received over 50,000 civil cases related to IPR at first instance for the first time, reaching 52,708 cases, with an growth rate of 42.2%.
As introduced by spokesman of the Supreme People’s Court, this year witnessed the 10th anniversary of China’s accession to the WTO, China’s IPR protection made a significant progress in the past ten years. The first-instance IPR civil cases soared from only 5,265 in 2001 to 42,931 in 2010, almost tripled in the past ten years, growing at an annual rate of more than 26%. The annual growth rate of IPR civil cases of first instance received has exceeded 30% continuously since 2007 which hit 40% in 2010.
