In 2011, China's invention patents reached 172,113 pieces, an increase of 27.4%, in which 112,347 invention patents were held by domestic patentees, an increase of 6.3%, accounting for 65.3% of the total.
The State Intellectual Property Office also released the 2011 top ten provinces (cities and districts) of mainland China as to invention patents granted: namely, Guangdong, Beijing, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan, Liaoning, Hubei and Shaanxi.
The conference also announced the top ten cities and businesses. In addition, in the last year, China received a total of 17473 PCT international patent applications, an increase of 35.3%.
