On December 29, the inauguration ceremony of Patent Examination Cooperation Center of SIPO Beijing was held grandly.
TIAN Lipu, Director of SIPO, gave a speech in the ceremony, pointing out that according to forecasts, at the end of 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's patent applications will be doubled than 11th Five-Year Plan period, which means that the patent examination human resources shall also be increased substantially. In order to solve this problem, the SIPO adopted innovative ideas and methods and established the Patent Examination Cooperation Centers in Beijing and other cities.
The Patent Examination Cooperation Center of SIPO Beijing was formerly known as the "State Intellectual Property Office Patent Examination Cooperation Center” established in 2001, and cumulatively examined 610,000 patents for inventions, 450,000 patents for utility model and 640,000 patents for design.
